Religious culture often intertwines with architecture, shaping and being shaped by it. This dynamic is evident in Sri Lanka, in places like Kandy Nallur, Katharagama Dewalaya, and Sripadaya, where spiritual practices foster unique cultures and create economic opportunities, acting as community catalysts.
This project focuses on the Madhu Church, aiming to connect two key communities: local residents and visiting pilgrims. By creating a proper entrance, providing flexible accommodation for feast days, and fostering interactions between these groups, the project seeks to uplift the income levels and lifestyle of the Madhu villagers. It envisions Madhu as a community empowerment center that bridges spiritual and economic growth.
